Sophie & Rich Get Hitched

Sophie and Rich are one of the loveliest couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Their summer wedding took place at The Mill Barns in Alveley; a stunning purpose built wedding venue set in picturesque grounds.

Wedding flowers should reflect the couple and also work in harmony with the features of the location. Their vision was to fill the light airy space of The Mill Barns with an abundance of summer flowers. Sophie and Rich are a sweet and relaxed couple, and therefore a natural and elegant style of floral arrangement was chosen. 

Upon visiting the venue with the couple it was decided that the initial colour scheme of white and blue would be accented with blush apricot tones to add dimension and depth. The wedding flowers were a mix of Hydrangeas, Peonies, David Austin Juliet Roses, Alabaster Roses, Majolica Spray Rose, Stocks, Oxypetalum, Nigella, Veronica, Thistle, Eucalyptus Populous Berries and Asparagus Fern. Flowers are chosen for quality, colour vibrancy, texture and fragrance.

The Wedding Ceremony room features a vast central window which we decided to frame with large urn displays. This makes for wonderful wedding photos. In addition, the urn displays were transferred after the ceremony to frame the couple at their Wedding Breakfast. 

The Wedding Breakfast room features an entire wall of windows which floods the room with natural light. The ‘floating displays’ sitting atop glass conical vases worked wonderfully here. I love the mix of formal dining amid the rustic oak framed barn setting. 

I loved working with Sophie and Rich and I am happy to say they were delighted with the end result. I wish them every happiness together and hope they treasure the memories of their very special day, of which Willow & Thorn were honoured to be a small part.
